Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, France

The delicate concrete filigree-clad Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MuCEM) by architect Rudy Ricciotti uses high performance fibre concrete as its main structural element. Its biggest attraction is the lacy ornamental concrete on the façade, which casts a veil like effect, creating sun-dappled shadows on walkways and corridors. The 40,000 square metre structure is connected to a heritage fort by a long slender concrete walkway that is an engineering marvel by itself.
